Foundations of South Australia

South Australia was founded in 1836 as a British Colony of free settlers.

James MacLeod arrived in South Australia in the very early days of the Colony.  A brief account of that event is displayed below, with a more detailed story to be found in the ‘MacLeods of Raasay’ section.
